Netflix has already outlined a large part of its series catalog for 2027, with more than a dozen productions finished in post-production, several still filming until the end of 2026, and some that were already delayed from 2026. Based on tracking shoots, set photos, and official announcements from the platform, these are 20 original English-language series that stand out for the coming year.
This selection is limited to new English-language titles (US and British productions) and excludes, with one expressly noted exception, series that already have previous seasons on Netflix. None of these dates are official unless otherwise indicated: these are estimates based on filming and post-production schedules.
Below is a review in non-hierarchical order of the 20 most anticipated series for 2027.
The 20 new Netflix series arriving in 2027
Myron Bolitar
Based on Harlan Coben's novel series, this show breaks from the author's usual Netflix formula, as it is not a miniseries set outside the United States. David E. Kelley and Kyle Long serve as showrunners, with Greg Yaitanes directing. Colin Woodell plays Myron, a former basketball player turned sports agent, alongside KJ Apa and Diane Guerrero. Filming took place in New York and New Jersey until early November 2026, pointing to a release in the second half of 2027. Coben has noted that this is the first of his series designed from the start to have a second season.
Scooby-Doo: Origins
This live-action series chronicles the gang's first case during their last summer at camp, when Shaggy and Daphne stumble upon a supernatural mystery alongside a Great Dane puppy. Mckenna Grace plays Daphne, Tanner Hagen plays Shaggy, Abby Ryder Fortson plays Velma, and Maxwell Jenkins plays Fred. For the first time, a real Great Dane will play Scooby. Filming took place in Atlanta between April and September 2026, and Netflix has already confirmed its 2027 release.
Assassin’s Creed
The live-action adaptation of the Ubisoft video game tells an original story set in 64 A.D., during the reign of Nero, rather than recreating any specific installment of the saga. Toby Wallace leads the cast alongside Claes Bang, Lola Petticrew, and Noomi Rapace. The seven-month shoot at Cinecittà studios in Rome ended in mid-October, so given the extensive post-production required, a late 2027 release seems most likely.
Tyler Perry’s Where There’s Smoke
This 16-episode drama created, written, and directed by Tyler Perry follows a group of firefighters facing the risks of their profession alongside their personal conflicts. Tyler Lepley leads the cast as Owen. Filming took place at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta between February and October 2026, and it is likely the episodes will be split into two batches throughout 2027.
The Secret of Secrets
A new adaptation of the Robert Langdon universe, this time based on Dan Brown's sixth novel. Morgan Spector replaces Tom Hanks in the role of the symbologist, alongside Rebecca Hall as scientist Katherine Solomon. Filming, centered in Prague, began in late August 2026 and is scheduled to run until March 2027, making this series one of the most uncertain in terms of date, with the possibility of it being delayed to 2028.
Rabbit, Rabbit
A hostage thriller miniseries starring Adam Driver, in his return to a series after Girls. Philip Barantini directs all episodes following the success of Adolescence. Regina Hall plays the FBI negotiator facing off against Driver's convict. Filming took place in Jersey City between March and July 2026, positioning it as a firm bet for the first half of 2027.
The Boys from Brazil
A reimagining of the Ira Levin novel in five episodes, created by Peter Morgan in his first project after The Crown. Jeremy Strong plays Nazi hunter Yakov Liebermann, with August Diehl as Nazi scientist Meinhardt and Gillian Anderson reuniting with Morgan. Filming concluded in the summer of 2026 after passing through the UK, Germany, Bulgaria, and Spain, so a release in early or mid-2027 seems feasible.
Kennedy
A historical drama about the rise of the Kennedy family, with Sam Shaw as showrunner, a script by Eric Roth, and Thomas Vinterberg directing the first and last episodes. Michael Fassbender plays patriarch Joe Kennedy Sr., with Laura Donnelly as Rose and newcomer Joshuah Melnick as a young Jack Kennedy. Filming took place in the UK from January 2026 and concluded in June, making it one of the firmest bets on the list for 2027.
The Twin
This is the only series on this list with a confirmed date: it premieres on January 1, 2027. This six-episode miniseries, a remake of the Norwegian series Twin, moves the action to the Scottish Highlands. Jamie Dornan plays a dual role as twin brothers Adam and Lee, alongside Mackenzie Davis. Filming concluded in mid-2024, so the series arrives finished after some time on hold.
The God of the Woods
An adaptation of Liz Moore's hit novel, set in 1975 in the Adirondacks, about the disappearance of a teenager in the same forest where her older brother disappeared years earlier. Maya Hawke leads the cast. Filming took place in Newburgh, New York, between June and September 2026, placing a possible release in mid-2027.
Charlie Brooker’s Blackmere
Charlie Brooker's first fiction series on Netflix outside of Black Mirror, described by the platform itself as an absurd comedy disguised as a very serious crime thriller. Paddy Considine plays detective John Blackmere. The four-episode miniseries is already finished after filming in Manchester and London since late summer 2025, so it could arrive in January or February 2027.
Ghostbusters: Night Shift
An animated series set in New York in 1994, five years after the events of the original film, with a new group of young New Yorkers facing a new wave of paranormal phenomena. Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan serve as executive producers alongside Dan Aykroyd. Jack Quaid is reportedly voicing one of the characters, although Netflix has not officially confirmed it. With no date or number of episodes confirmed, a release in the second half of 2027, possibly in October, seems the most likely scenario.
Motel Transylvania
An animated spin-off of the Hotel Transylvania franchise, focusing on Drac and Mavis opening a new resort in the California desert. Announced in 2024 with a planned date for 2025, it was delayed until 2027. At the moment, no showrunner, screenwriter, number of episodes, or confirmed voices are known, although production is reportedly finished.
Mercenary: An Extraction Series
The first live-action spin-off of a Netflix film franchise, derived from the Extraction movies. Omar Sy plays mercenary Kalidou Diallo on a hostage rescue mission in a Libyan oil field. Glen Mazzara is the showrunner, with Sam Hargrave and the Russo brothers as executive producers. Filming spanned from September 2025 to March 2026 between Ireland and Morocco, making it a strong candidate for the first half of 2027.
All the Sinners Bleed
An adaptation of S.A. Cosby's novel, produced by Higher Ground (the Obamas' production company) and Amblin Television, with Joe Robert Cole as showrunner. Sope Dirisu plays Titus Crown, the first Black sheriff of a county in southern Virginia who investigates a serial killer. Filming took place in Atlanta between November 2025 and May 2026, pointing to a release between spring and summer 2027.
Untitled Roald Dahl Series (Tales of the Unexpected)
Netflix's first project based on Roald Dahl's stories specifically aimed at an adult audience, written by Danny Brocklehurst. Nicola Coughlan leads the cast alongside Dominic West, Imelda Staunton, and Toby Jones. The series interweaves several of Dahl's short stories into a serialized plot. Filming took place on the northeast coast of England between mid-August and mid-December 2026.
Trinity
A political and military thriller that reunites Jed Mercurio, creator of Bodyguard, with Richard Madden. Gugu Mbatha-Raw plays Commander Katherine Decker, in charge of a nuclear submarine, while Madden plays a controversial Secretary of Defense. Filming concluded in October 2025 in Vancouver, so it has been in post-production for a year; this series was already featured in forecasts for 2026 without being confirmed.
Untitled Peaky Blinders Sequel Series
The only exception to the rule of not including series derived from previous productions: this is a sequel, not a new season of Peaky Blinders. Set in 1953, it follows a new generation of the Shelby family rebuilding Birmingham after the war. Jamie Bell plays Duke Shelby, with Cillian Murphy remaining only as an executive producer. Netflix and the BBC have already ordered two seasons of six episodes each. Filming began in March 2026 in Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham, pointing to a release between mid and late 2027.
The Lords’ Day
A political thriller based on the novel by Michael Dobbs, who is also the author of House of Cards. Damson Idris plays British spy Harry Jones, trapped in a kidnapping during the opening of Parliament. Bad Wolf produces the six-episode series, which began filming in the spring of 2026 in Wales, placing a possible release in mid-2027.
The Roman
A drama about the casino business in present-day Las Vegas, created by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Billions), with Martin Scorsese as executive producer through Sikelia Productions. Oscar Isaac plays Bobby Red, a casino president who must defend his position against rivals like the characters played by Alec Baldwin, Kate Mara, and Vincent D'Onofrio. Filming began in July 2026 and extends until mid-December, so its arrival in 2027 is not guaranteed and could slide into 2028.
