Spain's audiovisual industry has once again secured a place among the biggest names in world television. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced the nominees for the 2026 International Emmy Awards, and Spain has landed five nominations across different categories, a notable result after several years in which Spanish productions have taken home the award.
The announcement comes at a time when the country is looking to strengthen its presence in one of the most closely watched showcases in the international audiovisual industry, just as the year-end festival and content market season is about to begin.
The five Spanish nominated titles
Actor Javier Cámara has been recognized in the Best Performance by an Actor category for his role in the series Yakarta, a production by Buendía Studios Canarias and Mediapro Canarias for Movistar Plus+.
In the Comedy category, Old Dog, New Tricks, produced by Alea for Netflix, is competing. Joining this nomination is Temps Mort, the sports documentary by El Terrat (The Mediapro Studio) for 3Cat, nominated in Best Sports Documentary.
The second season of Valle Salvaje, a production by Bambú Producciones for RTVE, is among the nominees in the Telenovela category. Rounding out the Spanish list is Anatomía de un instante, the miniseries by DLO Producciones for Movistar Plus+, a nominee in the Best TV Movie or Miniseries category.
Spain returns after several years of wins
Spain's presence in this edition comes after the country previously won at recent editions of the International Emmy Awards with titles such as #SeAcabó, produced by You First and Gersh for Netflix; La Promesa, the daily series by Bambú Producciones for La 1; and La Casa de Papel, by Vancouver Media for Atresmedia.
In addition, previous editions also recognized actor Oriol Pla for Yo, adicto and the 3Cat documentary Punt de no retorn, further reinforcing the recent track record of Spanish production at these awards.

In total, the Academy has selected 64 nominees across 16 categories. The titles come from 22 countries: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, the Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
Among the international nominees are productions such as The Eternaut, by K&S Films for Netflix, starring Ricardo Darín; Carême, from Apple TV; and Prisoner 951, produced by Dancing Ledge Productions for the BBC.

The gala will be held in New York
The 2026 International Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on November 23 in New York. The gala will be backed by companies including Ay Yapim, CJ ENM, Dubai Studios, Ernst & Young, Globo, Mediafellows, MIP, Plural, Sofitel New York and Variety.
From November 20 to 22, the Academy will also organize a program of panels, networking events and presentations, with the participation of partners such as Amazon MGM Studios, ARRI, Broadview TV, Film and Media NRW, Frankfurt Kurnit, ORF-Enterprise, S4C, The Walt Disney Company Latin America, Unindustria and Ziegler Film.
