The Korean film While You're Here has revealed new images of its main characters, played by Kim Hyang Gi and Ahn Dong Gu. The film follows a young couple trying to hold onto their love and dreams while facing serious financial and housing difficulties.
It is a youth survival romantic drama that portrays the daily lives of two twenty-somethings who, despite having almost everything against them, refuse to give up on their aspirations or their relationship.
What is While You’re Here about?
While You're Here tells the story of Hwa Ran (Kim Hyang Gi) and Yi Wan (Ahn Dong Gu), a couple in their twenties who have nothing but their mutual love and their respective dreams. Hwa Ran aspires to become a webtoon artist, while Yi Wan dreams of building a career as a rapper.
Both hope to build a future together, but after taking out a loan to secure a home, they lose their rental deposit in a real estate scam. As a result, they are forced to move into a basement located two floors underground. With their home, finances, and future in jeopardy, the couple must fight to keep their relationship and aspirations alive while facing the harsh realities of adult life.
New images show the main characters
The newly released photographs capture both the daily moments of Hwa Ran and Yi Wan and their individual pursuit of their dreams, in addition to introducing the personalities of the colorful supporting characters around them.
In the images, Hwa Ran appears absorbed in her drawings, bringing her own creative universe to life, while Yi Wan shows his passion for music by listening to songs and writing lyrics. Other snapshots portray the couple spending time apart but conveying the feeling of always being by each other's side, reinforcing the bond between both characters.
An additional image shows Yi Wan on stage, holding a microphone with a serious expression, which raises questions about the story behind that solemn look.
Supporting cast: An Da Jung and Gyeong Tae
The new images also introduce other relevant characters in the plot. An Da Jung (Jung Yi Rang) is a real estate agent specialized in offering strange and mysterious properties, and the photographs preview the eccentric personality she will bring to the story.
For his part, Gyeong Tae (Hong Si Young) is the unconditional friend of Hwa Ran and Yi Wan. His particular charisma is reflected in a scene set on a building terrace, where the character leaves his own mark on the story.
