MBC has revealed the first images of Seo Hyun Jin in her new role for the drama The Perfect Lie, a psychological thriller that promises to pit two opposing versions of the same story against each other.
The production, directed by Jo Young Min, who was responsible for You and Everything Else, narrates the conflict between a man and a woman who offer completely contradictory accounts of the same memory, facing off in an intense search for the truth.
Who is Kang Ji Sun, Seo Hyun Jin’s character
Seo Hyun Jin brings to life Kang Ji Sun, a woman who firmly maintains that her version of events is the correct one. As a librarian and elementary school teacher, Kang Ji Sun does not just listen to what others say, but carefully examines the intentions behind their words.
Her life passes in an ordinary and peaceful way until cardiac surgeon Min Joon Ho, played by Yoo Yeon Seok, appears in her path. After a first date that seems perfect, unexpected changes begin to arise that completely alter the routine she once knew.
The new images show her warmer side
In the newly released photographs, Kang Ji Sun appears teaching her students inside the classroom. Her gentle smile as she watches the children reflects a warm and approachable personality, showing the everyday side of her life as a librarian and teacher.
This facet contrasts notably with what was seen in the drama's first teaser, where Kang Ji Sun tells someone sharply: I am telling you, it is not a lie. That scene offered a glimpse of a much more tense and sensitive side of her character.
Two faces of the same character
The stark contrast between the warmth she shows in front of her students and the tension revealed in the teaser not only highlights the different facets of Kang Ji Sun, but also casts doubt on the extent to which her words and actions can be trusted.
As her seemingly ordinary life becomes embroiled in a tense dispute over the truth, expectations grow regarding what really lies behind these two very different versions of herself.
