MBC has released new images for its upcoming drama The Perfect Lie, showcasing the enigmatic character played by Yoo Yeon Seok. The series also marks the reunion of the actor with Seo Hyun Jin, ten years after they both starred in Dr. Romantic.
The Perfect Lie is directed by Jo Young Min, who was also responsible for You and Everything Else. It is a psychological thriller centered on a man and a woman who offer completely opposite versions of the same memory, facing off in an intense search for the truth.
Who is Min Joon Ho, Yoo Yeon Seok’s character
Yoo Yeon Seok plays Min Joon Ho, a talented cardiac surgeon who is also a father devoted to his son. Inside the hospital, Min Joon Ho is highly regarded for his surgical skills, while at home he appears as a loving father raising his son alone.
According to promotional material, when Min Joon Ho meets Kang Ji Sun, the character played by Seo Hyun Jin, he manages to make her heart race for the first time in years. However, the relationship between them deteriorates rapidly, leading to a confrontation marked by opposing versions of the same incident.
The two sides of Min Joon Ho in the new images
The newly released photographs show the contrast between the different facets of Min Joon Ho. While talking to others, his expression is warm and friendly, but his gaze becomes cold and piercing the moment he picks up a scalpel in the operating room.
The production team explained that Min Joon Ho is a skilled cardiac surgeon and a father completely dedicated to his son, noting that playing a seemingly perfect character with no visible flaws is especially complex for any actor.
Regarding Yoo Yeon Seok's work, the production stated that the actor managed to embody this difficult role with mastery, ensuring that on set he was literally the perfect man, Min Joon Ho, brought to life.
The team also highlighted that Min Joon Ho's impeccable facade will make it even harder for the audience to determine the truth, adding that the character will keep viewers in constant confusion as they try to figure out which of the two protagonists is really lying.
