The youth romantic drama Summer Vacation is about to hit screens. Starring B1A4 member Jin Young and actress Cho Yi Hyun, the production premieres on October 26 and will be available via Viki.
The story follows Kim Ha Yeon (played by Cho Yi Hyun), an ordinary high school student who experiences a mysterious event during her summer vacation before returning to her daily life. Jin Young plays Jo Yu Gyeom, a young man of the same age whose path crosses with Ha Yeon's in an unexpected way.
With less than a week until the premiere of the first episode, here are the three main reasons to keep a close eye on this new production.
The dreamlike and ethereal atmosphere of the village of Upo
In Summer Vacation, Kim Ha Yeon leaves behind the fast-paced city life to accompany her father on a business trip to Upo, a rural village where time seems to move more slowly. There, a story unfolds with the atmosphere of a summer dream, framed in a visually ethereal setting.
The drama's cinematography seeks to capture this dreamlike environment through the lush vegetation and the blue sea of the area, creating immersive moments that feel almost fantastic, as if they could not truly exist.
The chemistry between Jin Young and Cho Yi Hyun
Jin Young plays Jo Yu Gyeom, a young man who has apathetically lived a monotonous existence, feeling trapped by the strict rules of his traditional family. After meeting Kim Ha Yeon, new and unexpected emotions begin to awaken in him little by little.
For her part, Cho Yi Hyun brings to life the endearing innocence of Kim Ha Yeon, who has longed to escape reality to become the protagonist of her own life. When these two teenagers, coming from completely different worlds, meet, the youthful chemistry and romantic tension that arise between them promise to thrill the audience.
The suspense hidden beneath the romantic plot
However, romance is not the only focus of Summer Vacation. Although the village of Upo appears calm and peaceful at first glance, there is a subtle undercurrent of mystery and a growing sense of suspense beneath the surface.
Adding to this tension is the character of Sung Sae Ryung, played by Hong Ye Ji, Jo Yu Gyeom's longtime girlfriend. Her character does not welcome the sudden arrival of Kim Ha Yeon and ends up influencing the emotions of both Jo Yu Gyeom and Kim Ha Yeon, becoming a key piece within the plot.
