Netflix has launched the filming of Jotadé, a new Spanish crime and suspense miniseries consisting of four episodes. The production adapts the novel of the same name by Santiago Díaz and features Isaac Díaz as the lead, accompanied by Aura Garrido, Jose Coronado, and Jaime Lorente in the main roles.
The announcement was made official by Netflix Spain on October 26, 2026, confirming that cameras are already rolling. Jotadé joins the extensive list of Spanish series that Netflix plans to release between 2026 and 2027.
The production is handled by MOD Producciones, with Fernando Bovaira as producer and Guillem Vidal-Folch as executive producer. MOD is the same production company responsible for The Final Problem, the recent adaptation of Arturo Pérez-Reverte that Netflix released in September 2026. The screenplay is written by Isa Sánchez (The Gardener) and Daniel Corpas, while directing duties fall to Daniel Calparsoro, previously responsible for Bank Under Siege and the thriller Salvador, starring Luis Tosar, both Netflix productions.
What is Jotadé about?
The series adapts the first novel in the Jotadé saga, written by Santiago Díaz and published by Alfaguara in March 2025. The character first appeared within the popular Indira Ramos trilogy, also written by Díaz, before starring in his own books. A second novel, El amo, was published in March 2026, so there is enough material for future seasons if this first installment performs well.
This is how Netflix describes the series' plot:
Jotadé is an unconventional police officer: direct and irreverent, but also insightful, honest, and deeply loyal to his colleagues and his Roma community. When he is tasked with investigating a brutal crime that hides a dangerous criminal network, he must take on an impossible mission for an agent who has never known how to go unnoticed.
Jotadé Cast
Isaac Díaz leads the cast in the starring role, surrounded by some of the most recognizable faces in Spanish television.
- Aura Garrido (The Ministry of Time, The Innocent) plays Lucía.
- Jose Coronado (The Final Problem, The Truthers) plays Hilario Garza.
- Jaime Lorente (Money Heist, Elite) plays Tony Garza.
Jose Coronado is becoming one of the regular faces of Netflix Spain. In addition to The Final Problem, he starred in the conspiracy thriller The Truthers in July and is part of the cast of the upcoming series Nine Queens, alongside Aura Garrido. Both had previously worked together on The Innocent, the first Harlan Coben adaptation in Spanish produced by Netflix. For his part, Jaime Lorente, known for playing Denver in Money Heist, last starred in a crime miniseries for Netflix with Iron Reign, released in 2024.
The cast is rounded out by María de Nati (Entrevías), Alberto Olmo (The Truthers), Melania Cruz, Carmen Avilés, Moreno Borja (One Hundred Years of Solitude), Rafaela León, Antonio Zafra, and Álvaro Rico (Elite, The Gardener), along with a special appearance by Javier Gutiérrez (The Asunta Case, 53 Sundays).
When will Jotadé be released on Netflix?
Netflix has not yet confirmed a release date for Jotadé. As it is a four-episode miniseries that has just begun filming, it would be reasonable to expect a release in the second half of 2027, although this date is not confirmed at the moment. For reference, The Final Problem began filming in May 2025 and arrived on the platform in September 2026.
