The Seville European Film Festival and Sevilla Film and Events are preparing a new edition of FRAME Sevilla, the festival's industry section, which will be held from November 7 to 13, 2026. The event will once again position the Andalusian capital as a meeting point for audiovisual sector professionals, with a special focus on emerging talent and screenwriters.
The relevance of this edition lies in the launch of new initiatives aimed at connecting local creators with production companies, sales agents, and international festival programmers, at a time when the Spanish audiovisual industry is seeking to expand its international reach.
Ínsula, the new script market
One of the main novelties of FRAME Sevilla 2026 is Ínsula, a script market that has selected 58 audiovisual projects. Of these, 48 are beneficiaries of the 2026 Script Grants from the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA).
In addition, there are eight projects from the agreement with the CreANDo program of the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, and two proposed by the Cinenido scriptwriting residency.
The professional day for Ínsula will take place on November 9 at the Real Fábrica de Artillería. There, screenwriters will be able to present their projects to production companies from all over Spain through pre-arranged individual meetings.
Profile of the selected projects
Among the 48 projects linked to the ICAA, 46 are live-action proposals and two are animation, one of which is a documentary. The genres represented include drama, comedy, thriller, horror, science fiction, and adventure.
The works come from different autonomous communities and are written in Spanish, Catalan, Basque, and Valencian. Seven of the 48 projects have Andalusian origins: three from Seville, two from Cádiz, one from Granada, and one from Málaga.
Local Roots, Global Roles: acting talent with international reach
FRAME Sevilla 2026 also incorporates Local Roots, Global Roles, a program developed together with Filmmakers Europe and Spotlight that seeks to connect Spanish actors with international opportunities. The initiative, which is already held at festivals such as those in Thessaloniki, Venice, Warsaw, and Helsinki, will arrive in Seville from November 10 to 12.
Five international casting professionals will participate: Lucinda Syson from the UK, linked to productions such as The Dark Knight and Wonder Woman; Juliette Ménager from France, with work on Babel and Emily in Paris; Alexandra Montag from Germany, associated with TÁR and The Zone of Interest; and the Spanish casting directors Anna González, responsible for Bird Box: Barcelona and El cuerpo en llamas, and Belén Calafell.
The program will include professional meetings and practical workshops, including a session focused on how local talent can attract international co-productions.
Sky is The Limit and the promotion of Andalusian documentary film
With the goal of boosting the internationalization of Andalusian documentary film, the Sky is The Limit initiative, developed together with the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, has selected five projects that will participate in a specialized program on November 11.
The chosen projects are Las flamencas del olvido by Chicastories; Triángulo infinito by La Favorita Produce; Walter Reuter, el viento limpia el alma by MLK Producciones; Taranta by Sarao Films; and Una tragedia española by La Mirada Oblicua.
Their teams will receive individual advice from British producer Lisa Marie Russo, who has collaborated with directors such as Ken Loach and Terence Davies. Russo will also give a masterclass on how to take documentary stories to the international market. This action is co-financed by the 2021-2027 Andalusia FEDER Program.
Meet The Programmers and reaching out to international festivals
FRAME Sevilla 2026 debuts Meet The Programmers, a section designed to connect Spanish professionals with international festival programmers. Among the guests is Mickaël Marin, director of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Through meetings with representatives of festivals such as Annecy or Viña del Mar, participants will be able to learn about selection criteria and establish direct contacts for the international circulation of their works.
Ink Motion: from page to screen
On November 10, at the Antiquarium, Ink Motion will be held, a day dedicated to literary adaptations for the audiovisual format, organized together with GPS (Grupo Lantia).
The session will open with a talk by producer Juan Gordon, responsible for titles such as Celda 211 and También esto pasará, interviewed by Rodrigo Espinel, head of FRAME Sevilla 2026.
Olmo Figueredo and Alberto Albatros González will also participate, with presentations on the adaptation process from the perspective of production and screenwriting, respectively. The day will include a pitch session to foster alliances between the publishing and audiovisual sectors.
Other programming activities
FRAME Sevilla 2026 will once again include the European Film Exhibition Days, organized with the Federation of Cinemas of Spain (FECE), which will be held on November 7 and 8. These sessions will address the state of film exhibition in Spain, the sector's demands regarding the new Cinema Law, and successful models in other European countries.
The financing cycle El parné – Show me the money will return to explore funding avenues for audiovisual projects, while other meetings will address artificial intelligence, new technologies, sustainability, equality, and international co-production.
The program will also include the presentation of the Dunia Ayaso Award, in collaboration with the SGAE Foundation, an award from the Andalusian Film Academy, and a tribute to Carlos Rosado for the 25th anniversary of the Spain Film Commission.
