The Film Academy launches the fourth edition of Trascámara to bring cinema closer to secondary school students

The Film Academy has launched the fourth edition of Trascámara, its educational program aimed at secondary, high school, and vocational training students. The initiative seeks to spark young people's interest in film crafts and introduce them to the work of the professionals who make a film possible.

The program is gaining relevance now as it consolidates its reach after three years of activity: since its creation in 2024, Trascámara has brought together 4,100 students and 290 teachers, a figure that reflects its consolidation as a tool for audiovisual literacy in Spanish classrooms.

A program that has already reached 67 schools

According to data provided by the Film Academy, the initiative has been present in 67 educational centers spread across 16 locations, with a presence in provinces such as León, Palencia, Soria, Zamora, and Zaragoza. In the Community of Madrid, the program has reached both various municipalities and 15 districts of the capital.

During the inauguration of this fourth edition, the first vice president of the Film Academy, Félix Tusell Sánchez, highlighted the results obtained so far, which he described as positive and visible. Tusell stressed that the program's objective remains the same as it was from the beginning: to bring the different crafts of the audiovisual industry closer to students between 14 and 17 years old.

The executive also addressed the participating students, encouraging them to become not only spectators but also future creators and professionals in the film sector.

Trascámara is developed in collaboration with Aulafilm and is part of the Film Academy's commitment to audiovisual literacy in classrooms. In addition to the in-person sessions, the program provides the educational community with pedagogical materials and teaching guides, accessible for free through the institution's website.

The first day of this fourth edition featured actress Blanca Portillo and director and screenwriter Icíar Bollaín, who used the film Maixabel, winner of three Goya Awards, to explain the processes of acting and scriptwriting to the students.

The session brought together more than 170 young people from the Santa María de los Apóstoles school in Madrid and Zurbarán in Colmenar Viejo, as well as the Gerardi Diego Secondary Education Institute in Pozuelo de Alarcón and Lope de Vega in Madrid.
