The upcoming drama What a Boss Wants has unveiled its first teaser, showcasing the peculiar encounter between its two leads, played by Sung Hoon and Oh Se Young.
The series is based on a web novel of the same name and tells a romance story centered on Kwon Do Hyuk (Sung Hoon), a conglomerate heir who completely lacks a sense of taste and decides to search for the woman whose voice he heard on an album. That woman is Lee Eun Chae (Oh Se Young), the lead singer of an indie band who will become the only unpredictable variable in the otherwise perfect life of Kwon Do Hyuk.

The preview begins with Kwon Do Hyuk being reprimanded by his father, Kwon Tae Woong (played by Park Jung Hak), who demands he stop obsessing over artificial intelligence and focus on saving OYES Entertainment. The funeral wreaths placed at the entrance of the company give an idea of how dire the situation is. Surrounded by floating lines of code, Kwon Do Hyuk states: “I will have to create one myself. A celebrity who doesn't cause trouble,” as he attempts to rescue the company by relying on his knowledge of artificial intelligence.
For her part, Lee Eun Chae deals with her daily routine as a telemarketer, enduring angry customers and a team leader who warns her to find another job if she keeps causing problems. However, outside of work hours, she transforms into Soo, the bold lead singer of the indie band India Red, sporting a red dress, striking makeup, and a wig of the same color.
An unusual first encounter
The first crossing of paths between both characters is equally unusual. Kwon Do Hyuk immediately realizes that Lee Eun Chae is posing as a doctor when he finds her wearing a lab coat with the name of his friend Seo Jin Woo (Lee Choong Joo).
Later, Kwon Do Hyuk discovers Soo on the cover of an India Red album and is stunned. “Does what I created actually exist?” he exclaims before attending one of the band's performances.
After chasing Soo when she hurriedly leaves the venue, Kwon Do Hyuk runs into Lee Eun Chae in her everyday appearance. Suspicious, she asks him: “Did you follow Soo here? Are you a stalker?” When he notices the red dress sticking out of her bag, he begins to question her identity and wonders: “Lee Eun Chae, who are you really?”
The deal between the leads and the plot of What a Boss Wants
Kwon Do Hyuk ends up presenting Lee Eun Chae with a contract, declaring: “The term is three months.” That arrangement brings them closer and closer, leading to a series of moments charged with romantic tension. In one scene, Lee Eun Chae leans her ear against Kwon Do Hyuk's door and ends up falling into his arms when the door suddenly opens. Confused by his own unexpected feelings, Kwon Do Hyuk wonders: “Why is my heart beating so fast?”
