NCT members gathered to star in their own version of the Idol Star Athletics Championships, the popular sports variety show that usually brings together South Korean idols during national holidays.
The event, dubbed the NCT Athletics Championships, served as a special celebration for the group's 10th anniversary and brought together members from all its units in a competition full of energy and camaraderie.
What is the Idol Star Athletics Championships and why did NCT create its own version?
The Idol Star Athletics Championships, popularly known as ISAC, is a flagship MBC program that launched in 2010. In it, various idols compete in different sports disciplines during holidays such as Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) or the Lunar New Year.
However, this year the ISAC was not held during Chuseok, as the holiday coincided with the Asian Games. Given this absence, NCT decided to organize its own internal competition to mark the group's 10th anniversary, giving rise to the NCT Athletics Championships.
NCT units were divided into two teams
For this special edition, members of NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV, and NCT WISH were divided into two teams that faced off in various events, including tug-of-war, tail-catching, dodgeball, and a special relay race.
Team White
Team White was led by captain Ryo and consisted of Taeyong, Kun, Jaehyun, Xiaojun, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, Yushi, and Jaehee.
Team Pink
Team Pink, meanwhile, was captained by Sakuya and included Johnny, Yuta, Hendery, Renjun, Jeno, YangYang, Jisung, Sion, and Riku. It should be noted that Yuta had to sit out the physical events due to an injury.
