The series kiDnap GAME has released new images ahead of its upcoming episode, delving into the desperate search the protagonist undertakes to rescue his kidnapped wife.
kiDnap GAME is a thriller centered on an unprecedented kidnapping case unfolding simultaneously in seven Asian cities: Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, Naha, and Manila. The plot follows seven individuals who receive distinct missions and are forced to participate in a deadly survival game, where they must complete their tasks before anyone else to save their loved ones and survive.
Detective Niide Toshiro searches for his missing wife
In the story, Niide Toshiro (played by Sakaguchi Kentaro), a detective from the Shinjuku Central Police Station, desperately searches for his missing wife, Niide Saori (played by Sakurai Yuki), amidst a series of mysterious kidnappings occurring simultaneously across the seven Asian cities.
Even after taking leave, Niide Toshiro ventures alone into dangerous situations while evading the close surveillance of the Special Crimes Investigation Team, which considers him a prime suspect in the case.
A relationship marked by the past and redemption
For Niide Toshiro, his wife is much more than family: she is his savior. As a child, he suffered deep trauma from domestic violence and lived consumed by anger and hostility. It was Niide Saori who rescued him from that darkness.
In particular, a carrot-shaped doll she gave him to help him control his temper, along with her plea to "stop getting angry and show kindness," became the motivating force that led him to become a police officer.
His wife's devotion was also present in the couple's daily life. While tracking Saori's whereabouts, Niide Toshiro encounters a food truck owner who reveals that she used to ask him for carrot recipes. Remembering how he reluctantly ate the carrot dishes his wife lovingly prepared for him, the detective is overcome with late-blooming regret and a desperate determination to save her at all costs.
Even amidst the terror of captivity, Saori firmly believes that her husband will come for her.
The twist after a hostage’s death in episode 2
At the end of episode 2, the first contestant in the game was eliminated and a hostage died, causing Niide Toshiro to unleash his fury against the ruthless rules of the competition.
However, instead of being dragged down by that brutality and consumed by anger, the detective remembers his wife's words and puts her lesson about kindness into practice, making a definitive decision to try to destroy the game from within.
