MIPCOM 2026: Spain deploys over 340 professionals to Cannes to buy and sell series

The Spanish audiovisual industry is once again meeting with the international market. From October 12 to 15, the Palais des Festivals in Cannes hosts a new edition of MIPCOM, the world's leading showcase for buying and selling television content, which expects to gather around eleven thousand industry professionals this year.

The event's relevance to Spain is significant: more than 340 national audiovisual professionals will travel to the French city to close distribution deals, explore co-productions, and present their latest projects to international buyers, at a time when Spanish fiction is experiencing one of its most prolific years for premieres.

The Spanish pavilion, a central meeting point

As in previous editions, the ICEX pavilion under the Audiovisual from Spain brand will be the epicenter of the Spanish presence at the market. The space, located at stand R7.J11 in the Riviera building, will bring together nearly 50 companies and entities from the sector.

Among them are Amuse, Anafilms Productions, Ártico Distribution, Asymmetric Studios, B·Water Animation Studios, Brands & Rights 360, Deep Com Roots, Echo Post House, El Reino Infantil, Event CONECTA, Filmax, Go Global, Green Screen, Honestree Island, Hurí TV, IMACO89, Krakatoa, Lilicar Films, MODFIE, Morgana Studios, Onza Distribution, Plano a Plano, RCAudio, Secuoya Studios, Squirrel Media, Vértigo Films, Video Mercury Films, and Wild Stories Distribution.

The rights management society EGEDA also participates in this space, along with the public entities Canary Islands Film and Canarias ZEC.

More companies registered through ICEX

Added to this list are other companies attending Cannes also registered through Audiovisual from Spain, such as Arait Multimedia, Atomis Media, Boomerang TV, Boxfish TV, Brisa Media, Divisa Films, Ficción Producciones, Galerna Content, Gigglebug, M International Audiovisual, MAD sonido, MBC Content, Televisión de Galicia, and You First Originals | Gersh.

Independent stands and regional pavilions

The Spanish presence is completed by independent stands from major operators and distributors: Arena Pro, Atresmedia Sales, DeAPlaneta Entertainment, Liquid Rock, Motion Pictures, Movistar Plus International, RTVE Comercial, and The Mediapro Studio.

In addition, there are two regional pavilions: Basque.Audiovisual., which groups six Basque companies, and Catalan Films, which in this edition brings together up to 32 Catalan companies.

Other Spanish firms are participating through the Creative Europe Media program, such as La Embajada TV (from the Henneo group), 3box Media, Phileas Productions, and Latido Films, in addition to numerous companies attending independently, mainly with acquisition teams.

Distribution through foreign companies

Some Spanish productions will reach the international market through distributors from other countries. This is the case for the entertainment format 'La gran cita', from the Catalan production company Incís TV, which is part of the BBC Studios catalog, or 'CAPTCHA', from Thinketers, distributed by the German company Seven.One.

Seven. One will be present at the new MFE-MediaForEurope stand, which will also house the teams from Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group and Mediaset Distribution.

Spanish novelties in the market

Among the titles that Spanish companies will present as novelties at MIPCOM 2026, the documentary series 'A Walk Through Spain' (Artico Distribution) and 'The Flamenco Effect' (Hurí TV) stand out, as well as the documentary feature films 'Sons of the Apocalypse' (Deep Comm Roots) and 'Enlorquecido' (Lilicar Films).

Fiction remains one of the pillars of the Spanish offering, with series such as 'Ravalear' (Filmax), 'Boga' (Plano a Plano), and 'El laberinto de las mariposas' (Secuoya Studios), in addition to the vertical production 'Los secretos de Montesierra' (Anafilms).

Children’s and preschool animation

The animation sector will also play a prominent role. 'Milo', distributed by DeAPlaneta Entertainment, will present its third season, scheduled for 2027 with 52 new episodes aimed at the preschool audience. The production is going through a stage of expansion driven largely by investment from SETT and Amuse Animation, with the goal of accelerating the brand's international growth.

Other Spanish preschool animation proposals are 'Supertruck' (Amuse Animation) and 'Bumpy the Bear' (Krakatoa). Morgana Studio, for its part, is attending with two animated feature films: 'YugiBao' and 'Diamond'.

A report on Spanish fiction

As in previous editions, Audiovisual from Spain will have a second space in the MIP Creative Hub, dedicated to talks on financing, distribution, and networking activities.

In that space, the GECA report titled 'Spanish Fiction 2026: Between New Stories and New Seasons' will be presented on Tuesday, October 13, at 10:30 a.m. The session will feature Gloria Saló, Director of Production and Content Consulting at GECA, who will analyze how the mix of genres is giving rise to new narratives, while second and third seasons confirm the value of already consolidated intellectual properties.

The analysis comes in an especially intense year for Spanish fiction: in 2026 alone, more than forty premieres have been exceeded between new series and additional seasons of well-known titles, both on television and on platforms.

Co-production meeting with Canada

On Wednesday, October 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the same space will host a co-production meeting between Canada and Spain, held one month after both countries updated their Audiovisual Co-production Treaty.

The new text, which replaces the 1985 agreement, expands the concept of co-production to cinematographic, television, or video works regardless of their duration or genre, and allows for the participation of producers from third countries.

Participating on the Canadian side will be ATO Média, Big Bad Boo Studios, Groupe Fair-Play, Reign Films, Rezolution Pictures, and Vérité Films. On the Spanish side, Honestree Island, Hurí TV, Morgana Studios, and Vértigo Films will be present.

The Spanish agenda will be completed with the traditional Audiovisual from Spain Networking Event, an informal meeting that will be held on Wednesday, October 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Spanish pavilion.
