Netflix has confirmed the premiere of #Love, a new Tamil romantic series that is part of its catalog of South Indian productions. The series arrives under the platform's Swoonworthy label, a category usually associated with Korean romantic dramas.
The project was first announced in October 2025 as part of a package of films and series from South India. Now, with a confirmed release date, the production team has revealed more details about its plot, cast, and narrative purpose.
What is #Love about
According to the official Netflix synopsis, #Love follows Tara, a young and determined startup founder, whose path crosses with Matthew, an elegant and charismatic investor. Tara believes in compatibility as the foundation of relationships and has built her dating app on that idea, while Matthew backs a rival app that bets on chemistry as the deciding factor.
The clash between both philosophies of love becomes the axis of the series, when Tara and Matthew end up challenging each other to settle the debate between chemistry and compatibility once and for all.
The vision of director Balaji Mohan
Director Balaji Mohan, known for Maari, has described #Love as a modern version of the classic opposites-attract concept. Mohan has explained that the series seeks to tell a story that feels current, reflecting how the way people meet and fall in love has evolved today.
The director has also noted that, although the relationship between the protagonists is the core of the plot, friendship, family, personal ambition, and self-discovery occupy an equally important place in the character development.
Cast of #Love
Aishwarya Lekshmi, known for her role in Jagame Thandiram, plays Tara, the creator of the FOUND app, which focuses on compatibility. The actress has described her character as an emotionally complex, ambitious, and hardworking woman who has built her entire career on the idea that love can be calculated, until life presents her with a variable she cannot control.
Arjun Das, who participated in Con City, plays Matthew, the creator of the rival app Find My Bae, based on chemistry between people. According to Das, what drew him to the character was his stubbornness regarding chemistry, describing him as an incurable romantic who hides behind a carefree facade and who considers compatibility to be just an excuse for those who are afraid to take risks in love.
