Dive into You: The twists and funniest moments of episodes 3 and 4

The timeline of Dive into You gets complicated once again in its third and fourth episodes. Yoon Ha Na, played by Kim Ji Yeon (Bona from WJSN), and Yoon Ha Ru, played by Jang Se Hyuk, delve deeper into their time-travel entanglement while trying to save the life of Jung Woo Jae, played by Park Seo Ham.

These episodes combine an unexpected twist in the murder mystery with a clever plan involving the lottery and several comedic scenes stemming from the identity confusion between the twins.

Warning: spoilers for episodes 3 and 4 of Dive into You follow.

Who is the attacker’s real target?

After Yoon Ha Na and Yoon Ha Ru travel back to their high school days to save Woo Jae from debt collectors, the timeline changes. In this new version of events, Woo Jae quits judo and disappears from public life, causing the twins to lose all contact with him in the present.

The night of the awards ceremony repeats almost exactly as it did in the original timeline, except this time it is another bodyguard, not Jung Woo Jae, who accompanies Yoon Ha Na. Since the twins already know about the assassination attempt in advance, they devise a plan: Yoon Ha Na must stay away from the dressing room while Yoon Ha Ru monitors the area to catch the attacker in the act.

However, events do not unfold as they expected. A man dressed in black and wearing a helmet leaves a bouquet of flowers next to Yoon Ha Na's dressing room. Yoon Ha Ru chases him, convinced that he is the same assailant who killed Jung Woo Jae in the previous timeline, but upon removing the helmet, he discovers to his surprise that the man is Woo Jae himself.

Just as Yoon Ha Na hugs Jung Woo Jae, happy to see him alive, the same stalker from the previous timeline reappears with a knife and lunges at her. As happened before, Woo Jae steps in and is stabbed several times.

The most striking part of the scene is that the attacker shows no surprise or hesitation upon realizing he has wounded the wrong person. He continues to stab Jung Woo Jae multiple times before fleeing, which leads to the realization that his true target may have always been Woo Jae and not Yoon Ha Na.

The mystery is resolved in the following episode: the attacker is not a stalker of Yoon Ha Na, but a former rival of Jung Woo Jae in the world of judo, who blames him for ruining his career. The twist now raises a new question, as Yoon Ha Ru has inadvertently modified the timeline and caused this rival to develop feelings for Woo Jae.

The twins’ foolproof plan to save Woo Jae from the loan shark

Episode three helps to better understand how time travel works in the series. The camcorder contains several videos recorded since the 2010s, and each trip to the past corresponds chronologically to the oldest available video.

Once Yoon Ha Ru understands this mechanic, he designs a plan to help Jung Woo Jae: first, identify the future attacker, whom he believes is a trained judoka; and second, help Woo Jae get rid of his debts so he can pursue judo professionally.

To get quick money, Yoon Ha Ru turns to Saver, the fictional version of Naver within the story, checks the winning lottery numbers corresponding to the date of the third recorded video, and buys dozens of tickets. In this way, Jung Woo Jae's debt disappears almost immediately.

The funniest detail is that the twins do not take the opportunity to buy tickets for themselves, something many viewers point out as a missed opportunity to get rich.

Woo Jae falls in love with the wrong person

Despite the constant changes in the timeline, one feeling remains intact: Jung Woo Jae's love for Yoon Ha Na. The problem is that, due to the soul swap between the twins, Woo Jae begins to feel attracted to who he believes is Yoon Ha Ru.

In these episodes, the twins return a few weeks before a judo competition. Since their souls are swapped, it is Yoon Ha Na who must train to win the medal instead of her brother, just as happened in the original timeline.

During practice, the closeness between the two causes Jung Woo Jae to question his own feelings every time he gets close to who he thinks is Yoon Ha Ru. Even so, in those moments of confusion, he still sees Yoon Ha Na's face, which suggests that, in some way, he senses that something is not exactly the same as before.

Yoon Ha Ru’s path takes an unexpected turn

When the twins decided to travel to the past to save Jung Woo Jae, they did not consider how their own actions could affect their lives. In episode three, during the confrontation with the debt collectors, Yoon Ha Na, in Yoon Ha Ru's body, does not know how to defend herself with judo and ends up with a knee injury after an attack by one of the aggressors.

That injury has direct consequences in the judo competition in the following episode: Yoon Ha Na feels a sharp pain in her knee and, unlike the original timeline, loses the match against Jung Woo Jae.

After a new jump in time, from 2011 to 2013, Yoon Ha Na receives a call from Yoon Ha Ru with bad news: he has quit judo. Since the twins' time travel seems to occur in a strictly chronological manner, they cannot freely choose when to return, and Yoon Ha Ru ends up working part-time at his parents' restaurant.

This outcome opens up new questions about whether Yoon Ha Na will also lose her career as an actress, and raises the possibility that the series will end by showing the three friends building a life away from the spotlight. Despite the changes achieved in Jung Woo Jae's life, the twins have not managed to prevent him from quitting judo, so they must still find a way to stop him from ending up working as a security guard, the fate that led to his death in the original timeline.
