Netflix has officially confirmed the renewal of A Different World for a second season, just days after the series debuted on the platform. The decision comes much faster than usual, driven by viewership data that the platform simply could not ignore.
The series, a revival of the classic 80s and 90s college sitcom, premiered on September 24 and went straight to number 4 on Netflix's Global Top 10 list for English-language series. During its first week, it accumulated 4.2 million views and cracked the Top 10 in 15 different countries, while also sparking strong conversation on social media.
With these numbers on the table, Netflix has confirmed that Deborah Wayne and the rest of the students at Hillman College will return for a new season.
