How the RIAJ streaming certification system works
In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system specifically for song streaming, complementing the existing systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales.
Under this system, a song receives silver certification upon reaching 30 million streams, gold at 50 million, and platinum upon surpassing 100 million streams. From there, multiple platinum certifications are awarded for every additional 100 million accumulated streams.

This month, the hit collaborative track between BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars, titled APT., earned triple platinum certification from the RIAJ after surpassing 300 million streams in Japan.
The same distinction was awarded to Magnetic, the debut single by ILLIT, which also managed to cross the 300 million stream mark in the country, solidifying its performance in the Japanese market since its release.
aespa, BABYMONSTER, and Shaun receive platinum certification
Meanwhile, Spicy by aespa and SHEESH by BABYMONSTER were certified single platinum after both songs surpassed 100 million streams each in Japan.
