Netflix Canada is preparing for an October 2026 filled with television nostalgia. The platform has licensed a large batch of classic American series, produced between the 1950s and 1980s, which will arrive in stages throughout the month.
The move is part of a trend that Netflix has reinforced in recent years: betting on licensed catalog content to complement its original productions. Although new series continue to dominate popularity rankings, there is a constant demand for classic series and comfort content among subscribers.
These additions join titles that were already part of the Canadian catalog, such as Diagnosis Murder and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
Gunsmoke opens the month on October 5
The first major retro premiere arrives on October 5 with the addition of all 14 seasons of Gunsmoke, one of the longest-running westerns in American television. The series follows Marshal Matt Dillon as he maintains order in frontier Dodge City, in a production that spanned two decades on air.
The big launch on October 12: six classic series at once
October 12 will be the busiest date of the month, with six iconic series arriving simultaneously on Netflix Canada.
Bewitched
The eight seasons of Bewitched will arrive with the story of Samantha, played by Elizabeth Montgomery, a witch who tries to lead a normal suburban life with her mortal husband, with magically chaotic results. It is one of the most beloved sitcoms of the sixties.
Charlie’s Angels
The original trio of detectives from the seventies returns with the five seasons of Charlie's Angels, focusing on undercover missions carried out for their mysterious boss, Charlie, who is never seen on screen.
Dynasty
Netflix Canada will incorporate the nine seasons of the original Dynasty from the eighties, not the recent reboot from The CW. The series chronicles the rivalry between the Carrington and Colby families for control of their oil empires.
The Facts of Life
This spin-off of Diff'rent Strokes adds its nine seasons to the catalog, focusing on Edna Garrett, who becomes a surrogate mother at a prestigious girls' boarding school in New York.
The Love Boat
The nine seasons of The Love Boat will arrive with their intertwined romantic plots aboard the MS Pacific Princess, accompanied by the famous guest star appearances that characterized the series.
The Twilight Zone
The iconic science fiction anthology created by Rod Serling arrives with its five original seasons just in time for Halloween viewing. The Twilight Zone is still considered one of the most influential series in the genre.
Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless close out October
On October 26, Netflix Canada will incorporate two of the longest-running daytime soap operas in American television: Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless.
For the moment, it has not been confirmed which specific blocks of seasons will be available, given that both productions have accumulated decades of episodes. Days of our Lives is currently in its 62nd season, while The Young and the Restless, set in Genoa City and focusing on the Newman and Abbott families, begins its 54th season this October.
